Turning into a book worm.

If last summer was all about having to watch movies and tv series to take up boring, idle time under the Manila heat, this summer, I going to keep it old school in one of the most effective and traditional ways possible - BOOKS. My laptop has been malfunctioning lately so, it wasn't really ideal to watch and download movies. I decided that instead of just moping around and complaining about how boring and hot the past weeks have been, why not read?

Television in our heads as they say. Books can actually widen our imagination, expand our vocabulary. For me, they can be a big alternative from the unnecessary pig outs that have been making us add up to what we don't even want to gain. They can also be the cheapest way to entertain ourselves without having to take anything from our wallets. Well, that's if like in my case, I read ebooks on my phone.

As funny as it sounds, for me, reading is actually fun; As long as you read the books in the genre of your interest. Some of the first books that I was actually serious about reading was the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher and 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson. Well, don't force yourself to read books that you don't like but also don't judge a book by its cover because for all you know that story or character in that book could become the one that inspires you and actually changes your life. I guess I can say summer is slowly turning me into a book worm. I don't read fast like those who can read a book a day but I'm getting there. I hope 3 books a week is fast enough for the beginner book worm. Not to mention, reading is healthier than sitting at the computer or watching TV whole day (unless you're the active type, that's really healthy too). It gives us time to just be with ourselves to think, realize and just leave all the stress behind which actually are some things that we forget to do especially nowadays.

Anyways, I'd like to present my summer reading list for 2014. I hope you'd come along the adventure with me of crying, laughing, getting sad, the feels, regrets, dreams, joys and everything that comes in between!

P.S. message/tweet/email me if you'd like a copy of the ebook or what I think of the books that I've read from the books listed below. :P

  1. 3 books in a week is not actually bad for a beginner! Love your book selection. I've read: 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 9 ,18, 36, and 50! You should make a Goodreads account to keep track of your books!

  2. I agree with you - reading is undeniably fun! It's like getting lost in a whole new world when the real one is hot and boring. I really hope you finish this list before summer ends! It would be really awesome too if you gave us an update on your progress(?). You should definitely read Everyday by David Levithan, all the other book you'll read would be obsolete compared to it!
