An update on my summer reading

Half way through summer, I decided to do a little book reading and from then, it evolved into actually having a summer reading list. Since I've posted that list, I only finished a total of 10 out of 50 books. I've already finished 6 books prior to posting the list but after that I've only read 4 books in a span of 2 weeks (Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Future Of Us, To All the Boys I loved Before and Side Effects May Vary). Don't get me wrong, books are fun and it truly is television in my head that we create ourselves but honestly, I give up on reading for this week because it's recital season and I would like to focus on my rehearsals so, it looks like my pace is going to be slower than I thought. Because of what's going on, I decided since I still have the rest of the year (the rest of my life even) to read, I'll set my goal to finish this list by December, hopefully.

Those aren't the only reasons why I decided to stop reading for a while. We all know how life gives us all these problems that we never want to go through and as we go through them, especially as teenagers, we tend to just turnover to books in the hope that we will be able to find advice or hope for things to get better. However, this is really hard in my case. Sadly, With my growing attachment to these books, they distract me. The fact they have corrupted my mind with that perfect boy, that perfect friend, that perfect solution or with those perfect moments we will never be able to experience has been made an additional set of problems. I may be talking negative, but life is not like a fiction book. Well, to me at least.

You might be thinking that I hate books. I still love them! I just need a break from them. Just for a while at least, until I settle my problems and 'til then, I'll probably have a better coping mechanism with life. Hopefully ya'll understand me.
